THE CENTAURFirst EndingMarch 31, 2003 About 11:30 PM, Augusten went to the barn to talk to the centaur and let Kendall and Craig return to their human forms. He hummed Canadian Sunset as he walked. "So I'm to return to human form?" the centaur said, his large hoof clomping on the floor of the stall. "Midnight is the time of change," Augusten replied. "Are you so sure of yourself that you thought a few hours as a mythical creature would change out minds?" the centaur asked as he swished his tail. "No, but I'll take my chances when you return to being human," Augusten answered as he walked around behind the centaur and picked up a black blanket. "I'd like to rub you down before your change back. Call it a little bit of my dream to have a herd of centaurs," Augusten said and the centaur let him mount its back. "I'll bet you thought we'd want to remain a centaur," the centaur turned around and faced Augusten on his back. "No, I didn't. The days of centaurs are gone. I tried to create them in ancient Greece, but I didn't succeed." "It was selfish of you to suggest this transform," the centaur said. "And brave of you to accept the offer. Are you ready?" Augusten sat on the back of the centaur and patted its human shoulder. "Yes, we're more than ready," replied the centaur. Somewhere a clock struck midnight and Augusten pulled a black cloth over the head of the centaur as if it were a hood. He reached around the thick muscular body and held on tight. "Goodbye, my magnificent centaur," he said. The body of the centaur shook, wobbled, and the human form of the centaur began to change. The centaur thrashed around, but Augusten held on tight. "What have you done?" the centaur cried as its human jaw distorted and pulled forward. The characteristic features of a horse's body of a horse moved up the human torso. The human arms and shoulders shrank and formed into the neck of a horse. The face elongated and became equine. In a matter of seconds, the centaur became a draft horse. Augusten held onto its neck as it bucked and kicked, splintering the stall and breaking out into the barn. The draft horse bucked as it left the barn trying to throw and trample Augusten, but he stayed on the huge beast. Across the yard in the paddock, Augusten had three mares in heat. The new horse, once Kendall and Craig, once a centaur, and now, completely a draft horse caught the mares scent on the wind. It quit trying to shake Augusten off its back and started toward the paddock. Snap opened the gate as Augusten slid off the horse's back and onto the ground. As the horse entered the paddock, Snap closed the gate and then helped Augusten off the ground. "You took a big chance on that horse, boss," Snap said as he dusted the dirt from Augusten's clothes. "Yes, I didn't want to leave that task to anyone else. Thanks for getting the mares ready without much noise and fuss," Augusten put his arm around Snap's shoulder. "I guess now we raise some draft horses?" Snap said watching as the horse mounted the first mare. It's giant member plunging deep into the mare. "We'll name him Century in honor of his origin," Augusten watched the mating. "Are three mares sufficient to ensure the transform is irreversible?" Snap asked. After all, he had an interest in the topic. Augusten knew the strength of the emotions and hormones that flowed through the giant horse. Thousands of years ago, he was once a centaur and bred offspring of his own in his failed effort to breed the race. "Enough for tonight, this morning I made calls to our horse breeding friends and they are going to bring more mares tomorrow and the rest of the week. By the end of this week, Craig and Kendall will have forgotten their human existence," Augusten said. "Will I forget being human once I'm a donkey?" Snap asked. "No, your transformation will be different; you'll always be part human and always be aware of it. That's what you want, isn't it?" Augusten hugged the smaller man. "Sure thing, boss," Snap replied cheerfully, a large smile breaking out across his face. 725 Words more or less |
